Are July-ing?

Well that was quick--a month has passed and summer is full speed ahead. I can't believe how fast things are going and how much life is unfolding before my eyes. So far, this has been one for the books, for the reasons I mentioned previously and more. July will forever have a special meaning for me as it is the month of my wedding and it is a time where I am spending some significant moments with my close family and friends leading up to the wedding. It feels surreal to be back in the place where I grew up, on the cusp of being married with all these life changes that have happened already. I cherish this sweet time in my life.

One of the things that I'm holding onto these days and learning very closely is to savor the moments and to live life where you're at. Most of the years that I was single, I yearned to be in a different season, one where I had the companionship that I so deeply desired. There are so many seasons that we wish away, hoping that if we just get to the next one, we will be better off and happier. Well, I am certainly still on a journey of my own but I can say comfortably and confidently now that there is value and beauty in the waiting, and in the present.

The moments, the right now, the today, doesn't come back once it's gone. As sweet as it will be to be married, I know there are aspects of singleness that I will miss. Although it's fun and exciting to be living in a new area, I will always have a special spot for New England and my childhood neighborhood in my heart. So to those in between, waiting for the next season to begin, for the miracle to happen, for the thing you've been praying for to materialize, for the journey to get easier--the beauty is in the waiting, and in the now, and I promise that you will be better for it. The reality that you're wishing away is the same reality that you will wonder about or miss once it's gone. Good or bad, simple or complex, take the lesson and embrace the moment.
